How does the RealSense work when it only faces forward?
In Smart Mode, Typhoon H will rotate so the RealSense points in the direction of travel while utilizing the 360° gimbal to automatically keep the camera trained on the subject. In Angle mode, pilots will still have full control of the Typhoon, but if an obstacle presents itself in front of Typhoon H, the RealSense module will stop the forward flight and await command.
Will the Typhoon H equipped with Intel RealSense just stop in front of an object?
In Angle mode the aircraft will stop in front of an object, however in Smart mode, Follow Me, Watch Me, and Return to Home the aircraft will actively seek out alternate routes avoiding many obstacles. Once a clear path is obtained the Typhoon H will continue as normal.
How is Intel RealSense Technology integrated into Typhoon H?
Typhoon H carries an additional Intel® RealSense™ camera. There are three cameras that act like one—a 1080p HD camera, an infrared camera, and an infrared laser projector—they “see” like the human eye to sense depth and track motion. Typhoon H’s full 360 degree camera gimbal and retractable gear allows the module to always be facing obstacles in the path of flight, regardless of camera position.
Can the Intel RealSense be added to my basic Typhoon H?
The Intel RealSense is a module that can be installed by the user. A simple wiring connector and four screws hold it in place. Remove the old lens cover, hook up the wire connector to the prewired connection, slide the module in place and secure it with two screws in the front and two in the back. Release of the standalone Intel RealSense module will be announced at a later date.
